I'm Certified!

January 1, 2017

I’m a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP).  So what exactly does this mean?  If you want to be a real estate agent, plumber, electrician, or broker you need to pass an exam and become licensed.  However, when it comes to photography there is no such requirement.  That’s one of the reasons nearly everyone has a friend down the street with a camera who is eager to take their pictures for a song so they can “build their portfolio.”

While there is no licensing requirement to be a photographer, there is a certification that photographers can earn through the Professional Photographers Association.  The PPA is the largest non-profit photography association in the world.  Photographers who are serious about their profession can become certified by the PPA after passing a rigorous exam that demonstrates their knowledge of photography.  In addition to the exam, the photographer must submit a series of images to a committee for critique.  The images must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the various elements of photography in order for the photographer to earn their CPP.

When it comes to your wedding, family pictures, senior pictures, or those once-in-a-lifetime moments—when you’ve got one shot at getting it right—there really is no substitute for experience.  Make sure the person behind the camera is a pro. A proven professional photographer.

A Certified Professional Photographer is someone who has put in the extra work to stay above the rest. Through knowledge and experience a Certified Professional photographer has achieved and maintains a higher standard.  There are four primary reason you should hire a Certified Professional Photographer -

Consistency: Certified Professional Photographers know how to achieve great results— every time.

Technical Skills: A Certified Professional Photographer has demonstrated superior knowledge and understanding of lighting, posing, fashion and even interior design.

Unique Artistry: Certified Professional Photographers have the skills to create unique, customized works of art—not cookie-cutter pictures. They follow an artistic vision. It’s your story captured as a collection of art.

Professionalism: When you hire a Certified Professional Photographer, you know you’re getting someone who is willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best possible images.
